About the 1964 Le Mans Shelby Daytona Coupe
The Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe was developed with a singular mission, to defeat Ferrari on the world's greatest endurance racing circuits. At the 1964 24 Hours of Le Mans, Dan Gurney and Bob Bondurant drove the Daytona Coupe to victory in the GT class while finishing an astonishing fourth overall against the world's premier prototype race cars.
That triumph marked a pivotal chapter in Shelby American's international campaign and helped pave the way for the team's capture of the 1965 FIA World Championship for GT Manufacturers, ending Ferrari's long-standing dominance and securing the Daytona Coupe's place among the greatest competition cars ever built.
About Carroll Shelby & Dan Gurney
Few partnerships in American motorsports history rival the accomplishments of Carroll Shelby and Dan Gurney. Shelby transformed American performance through the creation of the Cobra, GT350, GT500, and the legendary Ford GT40 racing program, while Gurney became one of the most versatile drivers in racing history with victories in Formula One, NASCAR, IndyCar, Can-Am, endurance racing, and Le Mans.
Together, their contributions helped establish American engineering and racing excellence on the international stage. Original artwork personally signed by both legends is exceptionally scarce and represents some of the most desirable automotive collectibles in existence.
